Team SPG - Barnzy (Director)

After a test and error result in 2008, this year we are ready to hit the drifting events strong with a solid performance from both SPG Drivers and appearance from Team SPG.

"I am stoked and excited to have both Ben "Peggin" Purtell, and Paul "Aussie" Austin onboard with Team SPG this year. They both have years experience drifting along with an aggressive attitude to follow it. With a strong Team backed by great built cars from Nick Summers @ GT Garage, we will be a force to look out for in 2009" Barnzy said.

Look out for Team SPG at drift events all around Australia in 2009!!!

Team Driver Ben Purtell

After solid results in 2008, Team Specialised Performance Garage has upped the ante and joined forces in more ways than one with 2008 Tasmania Drift Series Champion and Super Drift round winner Ben Purtell. Purtell, who in 2008 was known as the Team Federal Tyres Nissan 180sx is arguably one of Australia's best up and coming drivers and will head the two car team in 2009.

"I'm extremely excited to be a part of the Specialised Performance Garage Drift Team in 2009 and also play a major role in the development of the SPG brand name through the business shop front", Ben explained.

Team Specialised Performance Garage will contest the 2009 Drift Tasmania Series titles, which will be clearly place the team at the forefront of the Drift Teams in Tasmania.

Team Driver Paul Austin

After great results driving the Wheelworx onevia, Paul “Aussie” Austin has stepped up a notch by joining forces with Team Specialised Performance Garage. In 2008 Paul was driving with Wheelworx through sponsorship deal between Wheelworx and Specialised Performance Garage. Aussie will be piloting the SPG Onevia in the 2009 calendar season.

“I’m thrilled to be a part of SPG for 2009! It was Team owner Jonathon Barnes who got me involved in the Tasmanian Drift Series back in 2007, so it’s great to be able to continue that tradition for the coming season, in another well built onevia no less!  I will bring along my experience from the national stage to the team and help us grow even further”, Aussie said.

Specialised Performance Garage Director & Team Owner Jonathon Barnes upon signing said “It’s fantastic to have Aussie on board with the team and a part of drifting in Tasmania again. Putting Aussie and Purtell together will be making a strong Team SPG, which will be a forced to reckon with”.
